PVCC Men's Association

The purpose of this association is to promote, organize, and maintain the interest in golf, in the true spirit of sportsmanship among the male members of Plausawa Valley Country Club.

Welcome to the (almost) 2008 golf season at Plausawa Valley Country Club! Many of you may or may not be aware that the Men's Association was "resurrected" last year after being absent for a number of years. An overall consensus among many members was that it was time to reenergize Plausawa and the association was the vehicle to accomplish this.

Last year we asked for voluntary dues of $10.00 from everyone and we thank those who contributed. This year we will do the same with more of a lobbying effort on the associations' part to increase the number of participants. The money we raise through voluntary dues, 50/50 raffles, the Men's Skin's Game and other activities to go toward helping defray the cost of the Men's Member-Guest in August. We will also earmark some money to go towards the McDonough Foundation which Plausawa Valley supports every year. The association would eventually like to purchase something tangible for the club. A couple ideas were to pay for new lockers to be built, or possibly a wide screen TV for the lounge. We are open to suggestions and ideas from the membership as to where some of the money can be well spent.

Since I already mentioned the Member-Guest Tournament, I need to thank Jeff Johnson and Jim Dussault for stepping up and coordinating lasts year's tournament and will be looking for sponsors and volunteers. We will also be looking for at changing the format. What we have in mind is putting the field into flights, with 6 teams per flight. Each team will play a 9 hole match against every team within their fight. This would mean 27 holes (3 matches) will need to be played on Saturday and 18 holes (2 matches) played on Sunday. This topic will be further discussed the night of the men's league meeting, where we will also have a short association meeting. (The meeting is approximately the 2nd week in April. The exact date has not been posted yet.)

The officers of the association are excited to make this a great year at the club. We will be looking for members to serve on the tournament and handicap committees and help with the various activities throughout the year. I will attempt to utilize the club website for regular updates throughout the year as well.

We hope to see you all at the men's league and association meeting in April. Think warm weather and GOLF!!
